Embracing the Warmth of Marsala

Every year the Pantone company tells the world what the Color of the Year is.

Marsala is this years color.

I love how it matches any darker shades, from the black in her shoes and purse to the dark, gradient green in her hair

For many of us, we didn’t even know why there is a color of the year.

This color every year represents what our culture feels as a whole, or sometimes its a color that they feel we need in our lives.  This isn’t a new color that they have invented or anything, its an existing color. Personally I would be more interested if it was a new color that we didn’t know about, like how the mantis shrimp can see 16 different spectrums of color(we can only see 3 with our eyes (http://theoatmeal.com/comics/mantis_shrimp) )

Don’t get me wrong I am interested in it, just not as much as discovering new colors. I like to know so I can see how the color trickles down from high fashion to regular day culture. And I do like this color. Its a nice brown red wine colour, which is neutral and natural but also rich.  I am partial to red shades already, but excited how it will come about.

colour of the year 2015

I found 2 colours in my collection that are in the same hue range as Marsala. OPI’s  “Magala Wine” and a shimmer discontinued “Miss Behave”.    Also tried some simpler nail art on the nails.

Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.
